Nancy Dekens

Nancy’s been a lawyer since 1998. After two years of general practice, she chose to become a lawyer entirely specialised in criminal law. From 2001 to 2007 she worked at Cleerdin & Hamer Advocaten, under the wings of Gerard Hamer.

In 2008 she founded Dekens & Groenendaal Criminal Defence Lawyers. This firm closed by the end of 2016. On 1 January 2018 she joined (then still) Pijnenburg Advocaten. Which became Dekens & Pijnenburg Criminal Defence Lawyers in 2018.
Starting September 2024 Dekens Aytemur Criminal Defence Lawyers became a fact.

Nancy likes to perform in complex criminal cases (murder, organised crime, drugs, fraud, etc.) and does not shy away from a tough discussion during trials. You can find several examples of her cases in the media (see also dacrime/media.nl).

Laying the legal puzzle and writing convincing pleadings are elements of the profession that still intrigues her after all these years. In her approach, the person behind the criminal case is always central.

In addition to private individuals, Nancy regularly defends companies and their managers who are suspected of criminal offences.

All her clients get an honest story. Nancy says what the situation is, how the case stands and what her defence can deliver. Nancy does not say things that are not reasonable or have no meaning.

In addition to a passion for criminal law, Nancy is a fanatical athlete. She practices karate. She also likes to cycle quite a bit on her racing bike in good weather.

Nancy is a member and also the secretary of the Dutch Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers (NVSA) and a member of the Amsterdam Lawyers Psychiatry Association (vPAN)
